NIH Director Dr. Francis Collins, renowned soprano Renée Fleming, and former Surgeon General Vivak Murthy discuss the Future of Music and the Mind and the reason for the Sound Health partnership. Advances in neuroscience are moving at an unprecedented pace. We can now visualize what the brain is doing as people have profound reactions to music. One example is the release of dopamine in a specific part of the brain when music gives you the “chills.” By studying how our brain’s reacts to music, both listening and producing, we are learning more about how the brain works.  The goal is to bring neuroscience and music therapy together to further enrich basic science & the clinical aspect of music therapy?
